HALLOWEEN TOMBSTONES - HOME MADE
STONE PILE GRAVE MARKERS
Piles of stones, or Carnes, have been used to mark graves and
cover what's beneath them since the
beginning of time and can add a new aspect to your graveyard.
You could do a whole scene with nothing but wooden crosses and
Carnes, ala "Pet Semetary", giving a very old and creepy look to
a graveyard. If you have a yard space about 144 square feet (12'
x 12'), mark it off and make a spiraling circle starting at the
outside and working your way in. Leave enough room between lines
to add stone piles and crosses as you go with the biggest pile
at the very center. Add some skeletons crawling out of the
ground and a couple of friends walking around dressed as zombies
and you have an ancient, cursed burial ground where things come
back to life, sort of, if buried there.
Epitaphs
You may or may not want to add epitaph to some of the large
stones that face out.
You can
simply paint it on using artist brushes. You can use acrylic
craft paint. You should use paint that is darker than the
color of the stone, not lighter.
